Brazil recorded a 7% increase in organ donations in the first half of this year to 2018, according to the Ministry of health. The number of donations rose from 1,653 to 1,765 in comparison with the same period last year.
On the basis of this number, the Ministry set a record in the number of transplants performed in Brazil. The expectation is 26.400 transplants in the country in the year 2018.

Of this amount, 8.690, what rates the Ministry of solid organs (heart, liver, pancreas, lung, kidney and pancreas-kidney). If the goal is reached, there is a record compared to the last eight years.
The Ministry expects to record liver transplantation (2.222), lung (130) and the heart (382) by the end of 2018. Transplantation of bone marrow can also reach the highest number in the historical series (2.684).
The same projection shows skin, a decrease in the transplants of the cornea. But according to the Ministry, is a reflection of the removal of the waiting list in some States. Amazonas, Ceará, Goiás, Paraná, Pernambuco and are considered to be in the situation in which the deleted-list.
Currently, Brazil has to wait 41.266 patients on a transplant. According to the Ministry data, the number of which is smaller than in 2017, as the 44 thousand patients were in the waiting room.
The coordinator of the transplant, Daniela Salomon, said in a note to the published figures: “With the joint effort it will be possible to meet more and more Brazilians and more transplants”.
